Update from the Chapter Advisors

Parents,

We enjoyed getting to meet you all on Bid Day!  For those we were unable

to meet, we'll take a moment to introduce ourselves.  We are the

co-chapter advisors for the OSU chapter of Alpha Chi Omega, also known as

the Gamma Epsilon chapter of AXO.  We are both alumna of Gamma Epsilon

and both work for OSU, Erin in Stillwater and Keila at the OKC campus.

Our job as advisors is to help guide and direct programming at the

chapter, assist with problems or issues, and mentor the women of the

chapter.  We are volunteers and our goal is to help the women grow as

students and women through their AXO experience.

First we'd like to thank the Parents Club for all the help this year at

Recruitment and Dad's Day.   We so appreciate your support and love

getting the chance to meet you.

A few important things to mention:

--first, we have exciting news regarding parking.  If your daughter lives

in the chapter house, you may have heard that parking can be difficult.

A big thanks to Mom Jane and Claire, the House Corporation President, for

working with Delta Tau Delta to lease additional parking spaces from them

for our women.  These spaces are conveniently located near our house

(just as close as our far back lot spots) and House Corp has agreed to

fund the lease of these spaces.  We now have enough spaces for every

woman to be assigned a specific parking space--the end of circling the

lot looking for an open space or stalking a sister who is leaving for

Walmart!

--Homecoming, Freshman Follies, Initiation and many other activities are

coming up this fall.  Fall can often seem overwhelming--especially to our

new members.  The fall semester of a new member's freshman year is often

the busiest, most overwhelming semester of their membership in a

sorority.  The goal of all the activity is to give her many opportunities

to interact with older members and get her comfortable coming over to the

chapter house.  If your daughter is feeling overwhelmed, we can relate.

I (Keila) remember calling my mom my freshman year in the fall in a panic

and telling her that I wasn't sure I had time to do all this--maybe I

should quit.  Fortunately, she put me in touch with a friend who assured

me that after the first semester and initiation were over, things would

greatly slow down.  And it did!  If your daughter calls you overwhelmed,

please encourage her to reach out to Erica, the new member educator, or

one of us and we will be happy to help her in any way we can!

Finally, what would you like to know from us?  What questions do you

have?  Feel free to contact us directly or send your questions to the

Parent's Club and we will answer them.  Chances are, if you have a

question, another parent probably has the same one!

See you soon!

Keila and Erin
